The face behind the site…

Hi, my name is Janys Hyde — I alternate between photography, design, digital and applied arts and crafts. My inspiration often comes from the sights and sounds of my adoptive city of Venice in Italy, and my preferred mountain retreat in the majestic Italian Dolomites, though bright, bold colours are what capture my attention best.

My father was a professional photographer and the rest of my close and extended family is teeming with talent — sculptor, author, film maker, musicians, graphic designers, painters, illustrators, photographers and stitchers so I like to think that just a little of all that talent has been passed on to me too!

When the opportunity arises, I organise and/or participate in workshops for small groups of all ages where we delve into creative activities such as painting on silk, weaving, papercrafts and more. In here you will find my ramblings and tours of discovery following my passion for various crafting techniques. Some of the results of my experiments I’m sharing as free downloadable tutorials and templates for you to try out for yourselves whilst other products of my labours will be made available for purchase. Hoping you will enjoy what you find in here, even if only to pick up some inspiration of your own from the resources available.
